LBC Committee Meeting, 19 May 2005

1. Dragon Boat Race

  • Drinks & food organized by Club
  • Michelle to order additional drinks. - MF
  • Final pre-Race briefing planned for June 2nd. Marianne is not able to go, she will make sure somebody else will go. - MK
  • We have enough participants to join for the race.

2. Calendar

  • To be added: ABC Open and Around The Island; Steve to confirm dates with RHYC - SW
  • BBQ combined with open day (July 3rd Sunday)
  • Commodores cup in Cheung Chau to be organized September 18th
  • To be confirmed if our Regatta is scheduled at the same time as the Race for Big Boats . Steve will follow up - SW

3. Training

  • Training organised June 4th (Saturday) for advanced sailors who at least joined one of the Dragon Series - JS
  • 10o'clock start theory (1.5 hours) after lunch a 2 hours exercise and a one Hour debrief
  • All participants will pay 50 HKD for lunch
  • Date rusty Helms training will change to June 19th (swap with Single handed race)

4. Regatta Sponsorship

  • Joeh, Richard and James will meet next week to discuss sponsors we know about
  • HK Hobie Cat proposed sponsorship if we buy 3 Hobie Cats
  • We still have an outstanding amount for last year's sponsor ship from Eagle group
  • FH offers prices
  • To be continued

5. Spring Dinner

  • 54 registered
  • Still open spaces for people to join

6. HKSF

  • Kevin handed over letter allowing Awah to tow in case of emergency. Letter will be plasticized and handed over to Awah - RC
  • Brenda Davies is representative in HKSF from Hobie Club
  • Kevin has the list of requirements for becoming a recognized training centre
  • Insurance (liability) is the only obstacle for Kevin to start up the kids training centre. Kevin to follow up on this topic. Members who are lawyers will be contacted by Kevin to ask for assistance in this matter.
  • LBC is still keen to have a kids training centre

7. Presence Canoe member in committee

  • Canoe members (Peter Austin) are keen to become more involved in club activities
  • Jimmy will inform Away that one day canoe members might call for support - JS
  • Instead of additional canoe representative in committee, proposal is to have (at least) one canoe member fulfilling one of the committee roles as of next year. - Next AGM
     
  • Peter (or other canoe members) is/are welcome to attend our meetings for the rest of this year

8. Hut

  • Discussed 3 proposals for new hut as prepared by Nina
  • Max budget to work with is 180.000 HKD
  • Above HKD 180.000 a levy will be requested from all members; to be agreed upon in AGM or additional members meeting
  • We agreed to remove the existing huts and add location for material (mainly sales) storage to the plan for the new hut. Size will be based on our existing huts. (1.5 times Blue Hut)
  • HK resorts is okay with us building a new hut as long as we are able to manage it on our own
  • After completion we should revise our agreement with Hong Kong Resorts - RC
  • NS to find out if additional drainage is required for showers
  • Requested for foot bath before entering the premises
  • Half June we expect a final quotation for the plan as discussed and agreed - NS
  • We will start building the 1st week of August is possible otherwise we will delay the start till after the Regatta
