LBC Committee Meeting, 4 October 2005

1. Beach

  • The Mosquito magnet is in place and seems to be working!
  • Steve and Craig will make enquiries about laying a plastic pipe under ground to provide a better hosepipe solution - SW, KC
  • There is a dumpster in Nim Shu Wan we could throw away the old hulls in - we could get Awah to take them round in his boat. Henrick will ask the regular rubbish company how much they would charge to do the job - HK
  • We need new lights for the hut - cheap temporary ones will do - HK

2. Regata

  • Craig will make new larger flags - CK
  • We will use Philippe/Al's Little Sunshine as committee boat. Jeremy Blackwell has a flag frame ready to go
  • Steve will buy a copy of the 2005 racing rules - SW
  • The sticker placement on hulls will be as follows : DBAY - outside both hulls, near the beam. Links on the Port hull, inside and outside. Lloyds on the Starboard hull, inside and outside.
  • There will be only 2 starts : Darts + H16s and the F18/open fleet
  • regatta kit etc will be delivered to Michele's office in the week before the regatta. On Wednesday 19 we need as many people as possible to help put bags together. These will then be taken to the Cavern on Thursday afternoon - All
     
  • We will need a press release to send to SCMP on the Saturday evening with preliminary results - NK
  • We cannot have a helicopter because of the no fly zone over disney
  • We need to write to DB Transport telling them about the regatta - RC
  • Possibilities for protest committee : Craig, Hamish, Al Doherty, Bo Fussing, Kevin Lewis
  • WE need a beach master for the day - posibilities Jane Edwards or Liz Smith - RC, MF
  • We need an electric horn for the starter - JS

3. Training

  • We are extremely short of people for all course. As an incentive non members will be allowed to do the novice level 2 at $1,150, but that makes them social members only for the duration of the course
  • As nobody has applied for it we will drop the intermediate course and instead have a race training day on Tue 11th (bank holiday). Cost : $ 600 per boat - to be advertised in Flash - NK
