Rusty Helms Training – Sunday June 19
It is about time to swap and let the crew take over the helm position.
The ideal crew is probably the crew that is able (if needed) to
take over the helm position.
To make this happen we organize a special Rusty Helms training
session for crew who like to get out of their comfort zone and take
control!
Besides if you normally helm but you feel you can do with some
training, feel free to attend as well!
Sunday we will meet at 11:00
at the beach where Jimmy Shum will organize the training. Looking
forward to seeing you all out there!
Dragon Boat Race
I guess we can call the Dragon boat race a success, if not for
the fact that we managed to get out with a boat full of paddlers!
We even entered into the second round. Unfortunately at that level,
the number of hours trained is quickly visible. Even tough we doubled
the number of training hours; it was by far not enough to compete
with the real players.
Anyway we had an excellent day and I would like to thank Marianne
Kolding for the organization and Grace Carrey for organizing our
lunch.
Health Warning
The Government Food and Environmental Hygiene department have been
around the boat park and warned us that there will be a fine coming
our way unless we get rid of the standing water on the boats, as
it is acting as a huge mosquito breeding ground.
We urgently need to get this fixed. Unfortunately pulling the cover
from the centre of the boat is not the complete solution, since
even these boats hold standing water.
Sunday July 3rd we will organize a club open day with Barbeque.
Besides we will have a solution available for you to prepare your
cover against standing water.
Most probably we propose you to make small holes (with gromet)
in the cover to get rid of the standing water.
We are also going to try out a Mosquito Magnet type machine to
get rid of those that are around, but this will only be effective
if we get rid of the breeding grounds.
This warning is just telling us what we already know - so lets
take it seriously and get the problem solved!
Cheers Nicole
