Flash #3 2005

Frostbite Series 4,5,6

Despite the cold weather forecast, 4 boats showed up for the Frostbite Series 4,5 and 6. Two single handed against two double handed. It looks like 2005 will be the year of the single handed. All boats managed to win one out of the four races. After calculating the numbers and the handicap, Michael Browne managed to become overall number one with Richard Carrey following close behind by only one point (both single handed).

After a weekend of rest, we will finish the Frostbite Series Sunday January 30th.

Hut Cleaning

The committee has added a new event to the calendar; hut cleaning on 30th January. One of the events we cannot perform single handed. Besides racing we will sort out the red and hopefully the blue hut. The blue hut will be most interesting since all members store something in there! Reserve the date and give us a hand, we will have some beers available to support.

Solo Record

Since nothing to report for next week, I thought to have a look on the web and see how Ellen is doing single handed around the world. www.teamellen.com. She is still 3 days and 1 hour ahead to break the solo record, less than 21 days to go? Let?s hope she will make it!

Fragrant Harbour

All our (paying) members should receive a copy of the Fragrant Harbour. We do our best to keep the list up to date, however being real amateurs sometimes we forget? If you do not receive the magazine and you think you should, mail me your address and I will add you to the list. secretary@lantauboatclub.com

Sunday Forecast

Although no race is scheduled, you might reconsider your plans for Sunday, 17-20 degrees Celsius and Wind East force 4, occasionally force 5 offshore. www.hko.gov.hk/wxinfo/currwx/fnd.htm

Long Range Weather Forecast

December 27th 2005 - Jan 4th 2006 we are expecting temperatures of 25-30 deg C and winds of 10-25Knots. Not in HK, obviously, but at the Dart 18 Worlds in South Africa. There are details of the race and party schedule are on www.dart18.co.za : the notice of race isn't ready yet though, so they have their priorities right! We are talking to them about taking boats over or renting them there. Just mark off your diary for now!
