Commodores’ Cup September 18 and 19th

We will be leaving for the Commodores' Cup Regatta at 9:00 o’clock Sunday September 18. On arrival in Cheung Chau, there will be geometric course racing with our friends from the Hobie Club. Monday we will have a long distance race before returning to Discovery Bay.

The Commodores' Cup is part of the HK Catamaran Championship Series (along with the ABC Sunseeker Opening Regatta, the Allied Pickfords Hobie Asian Championships, the Discovery Bay Asian Open Regatta and the Round the Island Race).

So far it looks like we have five or six boats signed up; if you are not part of this group but still interested to join, please come to the beach at 9:00 and send your contact details (mobile phone number) to the committee here

Sailing equipment

We are occasionally offered some great deals on sailing equipment, and pass these on to our members. The offers are available only to Boat Owning, Canoe and Social members of Lantau Boat Club, as well as anyone who has signed up for our regatta. Interested? Have a look at our website: here

Training with Brian Phipps, October

Good news! Brian Phipps is coming over again this year to help us improve our sailing skills! Are you interested in an advanced or intermediate training course or do you prefer private lessons? Although the schedule has not been finalized and might change based on members’ availability, for the moment the schedule is as follows:

Intermediate (3 days course) 8 &9 & 10 October;

Novice + (2 days) 11 & 12 October;

Private lessons: 13 & 14 & 18 & 19 October;

Advanced (3 days) 15 & 16 & 17 October.

If you happen to notice garbage while being in the beach, please pick it up and throw it in the bin. Let’s try to make our place look good! Especially with our Regatta coming up! Thanks for you support!

Discovery Bay Asian Open Regatta - 22 & 23 October

Our main event of the year, the Discovery Bay Asian Open Regatta will take place October 22 and 23rd. For those who just bought a boat or started sailing, do not hesitate to sign up. Boats for hire for the regatta

Some over our members who have moved overseas have signed up for our Discovery Bay Asian Open Regatta! As they no longer own a boat, we are looking for boat owners who are not able to attend the regatta themselves but who are willing to lend out their boat.

Please let us know if we can use your boat (secretary@lantauboatclub.com). If not, do not forget to sign up yourself!! We still have some places left.....
