Membership Fees – Revised Bills Coming!
An update to last week’s information about your annual subscriptions
and insurance bills:
Our treasurer, Steve Wallace, has negotiated better insurance coverage
for the club! We will now have FULL racing coverage rather than
just 3rd party coverage. What this means is that IF you should crash
into someone, the insurance will cover repairs to their boat AND
repairs to your boat. In the past it would only cover the damage
to the other boat and you would pay to fix your own. Because of
this change, there will be a slight increase in the amount of the
annual insurance payment and therefore Steve will be issuing revised
bills for 2006. Look for the revised statement in the next week
or so. Please pay promptly once you get them!
Safety at Sea Course -- February
It has become a RORC requirement that at least 30% of a crew including
the skipper shall have undertaken training on safety at sea in order
to be eligible for entering the offshore races that have become
popular in Hong Kong and throughout region. Therefore, the HKSF
is going to organize, in conjunction with the AYF, two Safety At
Sea Survival Courses in February 2006. Successful participants will
receive a HKSF/AYF certificate that will last for five years before
further safety training is necessary. This certificate will be accepted
at other regattas where there is a similar a requirement. Check
out these links for more information:

Discovery Bay Kids Adventure Race – Volunteers Needed
On 22 January 2006, the Discovery Bay Children's adventure race
will be held again. After the huge success of the 2005 event, the
organizers expect the next one to be even bigger and better with
more teams, a more challenging course and lots of great special
tests for the kids. A critical group of people toward making the
event a success will be the army of volunteers they need to run
the event safely. The marshalling jobs are easy and also fun to
see the kids working to complete a challenging course. If you are
interested in helping out, please contact Mark
Rawson .
Merry Christmas!
