Sail vs Paddle Peng Chau Sprint

To help blow away the New Year’s Day hangover we’ve come up with an interesting challenge : which is quicker round Peng Chau, a beach cat or an outrigger canoe?

As this is the first time we’ve tried this we are going to keep the rules simple. The race will be open to any beach catamaran, trimaran, dinghy, canoe or outrigger from Lantau Boat Club.

All boats will start on the beach in front of the club house, sail or paddle out of the bay, around Peng Chau (in whichever direction they please), and return to the beach. The first boat to touch the beach is the winner. No handicaps. No weight limits. No swapping crews once the race has started.

The prize will be a bottle of something nice, whatever we can find in the back of the hut.

There will also be hot mulled wine and some snacks for competitors, spectators and families.

Start : 2:30 pm Sunday 1st January

Even if you are not going to take part, I hope to see you down on the beach to cheer everyone on!
