UPCOMING SAILING EVENTS
Horwath Hobie Asian Classic 2007 — September 29-October 1
Update, Party Tickets & Regatta Kit
30+ teams will be lining up on the start line on Saturday 29th September. There’s a good showing of Hobie 16s and Tigers – but more Dart 18s are needed! It’s not too late to enter – simply go to http://www.hobie.com.hk/hac-entryform.php
With your entry, you’ll enjoy three days of racing, Neil Pryde briefcases, Kukri shirts and 4 parties. And the Hobie Club has offered to send a speed boat to DB to help bring boats over to Tai Tam on the morning of Wednesday Sep 26. The Horwath Hobie Asian Classic is one of two non-discardable regattas in the Fragrant Harbour Multihull Trophy this year (the other is the LBC Asian Open Regatta), so if you don’t take part, you won’t be in the running for the overall 2007 multihull trophies!
Please ask your friends to join the fun of the regatta parties. Tickets are available for the Sunday beach party ($200/ticket) and the Monday prize giving party ($125/ticket). Contact Chris Howarth (hobie@hobie.com.hk) for your tickets as soon as you can.
Sail-to Tai Tam on Wednesday, September 26
For all boats participating in the HAC, we will be leaving the beach at 10am, Wednesday morning. We will have safety cover from Ah Wah for the sail over. If you are participating, please send a note to racing@lantauboatclub.com
Air Canada Asian Open Regatta — October 27-28
Watch out for the Notice of Race for the Air Canada Asian Open Regatta in the next issue of Fragrant Harbour. Preparations are coming on well and we have an enthusiastic group of sponsors this year. Enzo Jewelry are hoping to make the most of their presence on the beach, Hemingways by the Bay are planning a spectacular menu for the prize-giving ceremony on Sunday and Lloyds TSB will be leading the beach party on the Saturday night. Don’t forget the pre-regatta party – Thursday evening, 25 October.
Round the Island Race — November 18

RACING RESULTS
Sunseeker ABC Opening Regatta Results
The year’s first regatta saw 11 boats from LBC racing in the largest division of the regatta, the multihull fleet. Unlike the previous 2 years, there was plenty of morning wind to get the boats to the start line and from there around the course. For the multihulls, the Tigers took the top 3 places, but also saw the most gear failures. A few dismastings and capsizes in the first lap guaranteed early excitement. In the final accounting, LBC sailors Tom Nunan with crew Gabriel Kicks took 4th behind the three Tigers and won the Dart division. KY Lai and Sydney Leung took 7th. For the complete multilhull results see ABC Regatta Multihull results 2007
Lloyds TSB Cup 2007 Results
The final series of the Lloyds TSB Cup finished last Sunday. Minimal wind in the morning made racing questionable, but it eventually filled in enough for 3 races to be completed, though each shortened to 2 triangles. Steve Chow and Richard Carrey took advantage of the light conditions by sailing without crew, but with both main and jib. Following the races a great dinner on the beach was sponsored by Lloyds TSB and provided by Chef Pour Toi.
For 2007, the Cup results are: 1st- Tom Nunan, 2nd- Clara Ng, 3rd- Richard Carrey.
