The Air Canada Asian Open Regatta is the highlight of the Lantau Boat Club calendar, and I take great pleasure in extending a warm invitation to all multihull sailors to join us this year. We are expecting a field of more than 50 beachcat teams from both the local sailing community and flying in especially.
As always, we aim to make this event the biggest and best of its kind in Asia, both on and off the water. Besides a busy racing schedule we have a superb program of social events, some fantastic kit for participants, and of course, some great trophies to be won.
An event of this size needs commercial support and we are very glad to
welcome Air Canada as title sponsor. We also are very grateful for the
continued support of Lloyds TSB both at this event and at our other
events throughout the year.
For the first time we welcome Enzo Jewelry, who are sponsoring our
Islands Race. This has been a favourite component of our regatta for
many years and always provides a thrilling climax to the racing.
Once again the Igors group will be hosting our pre-regatta party, this
time at the Pickled Pelican in Central. New to both LBC events and
Discovery Bay itself is Hemingways by the Bay, who will be hosting our
Caribbean-themed prize giving ceremony on the Sunday.
The organizing committee has put an enormous amount of work in to
making this event run smoothly, and deserves the thanks and praise of
all of us.
