Catamarans dropped from the Olympics

LBC members and friends:

As the newly elected Commodore of the Lantau Boat Club, I will be working hard to promote the sports of paddling and catamaran sailing in our community, Hong Kong and even across the region. At this moment, I am looking to you for a first act of support.
Tragically, the Olympic committee has followed a recommendation from the ISAF (as recommended by the RYA) to drop ALL catamarans from the Olympic games starting in 2012, The entire category of the fastest, most exciting boats on the water are being unceremoniously dumped in order to added yet another dinghy class. This is bad news for the future support of catamaran racing, sponsorship and more.

There is quite some disagreement with this decision as you might
expect, and a petition against this decision has now been organised. If
you feel that the direction of the committee is misguided, please
register your opinion. It does not matter whether you have a boat, or
even sail. It is your opinion that counts. This petition will be
presented to the ISAF in the next week or so! Please act now.

Go here to sign the online petition.

I look forward to a great year of catamaran sailing and paddling!
