Racing on Sunday
Enzo Race this Sunday! As many of you may know, we had to cancel the Enzo Islands Race at our regatta last fall because of lack of wind. We plan to hold this race on Sunday. So, dust off your Dart, Haul out your Hobie or Tidy up your Tiger because we will be back on the water on Sunday. Racing briefing is 11am. Exact course to be announced on the day depending on wind. But if you are clever enough, you have probably already figured that it will go around an island!

Novice Sail Training
Our novice sail training took place last Sunday. A good time was had by both instructors and participants alike, as the wind started gently enough then picked up during the afternoon. In the words of our Vice Commodore- Training, Al Doherty, "We were lucky to see a moderate breeze (Force 3-4) pick up during our afternoon session on the water." Al further thanked his very able volunteer instructors (Gabriel, Ed, Richard, IQ(?) and Keith Bartlett). Yes, for those of you who have been around a couple of years, Keith Bartlett was in town for a visit and we managed to rope him into a full day of vounteer instructor work! Thanks again Keith, we know you still read every word of the Flash!
As usual, this training was full, and the next one in May is mostly full already. If you can help out please let Al Doherty know.

Cheung Chau Challenge
Our annual first race of the season will take place on 12-13 April (at Cheung Chau of course). Most people stay in Cheung Chau for the night, as the partying can be as competitive as the sailing ;-) We are trying out a new format this year, whereby we will combine with the Hobie and break everyone into two evenly matched teams– Blue vs Red. Since nobody knows which team they will be on until they arrive, there incentive to make the teams uneven. Instead, we will focus on friendship and competitiveness as we all look to get back into our best racing form. This is a wonderful chance for people to join in a regatta without too much pressure.
We need to know IMMEDIATELY who will be booking a room for Saturday. Please send a note to our Social Secretary, Philippe Moriau . Do it now!
Prices will be around HK$800-840 per room.

Dragon Boat
Dragon Boat Season is coming up again soon. Lantau Boat Club will once again have multiple teams entered. We will have 3 competitive teams (men’s, mixed, women) and one fun team 1 (mixed). Note that the competitive teams typically involve a selection process that balances talent with the number of training sessions attended. The fun team is open to all LBC members. Please notify our paddling officer, Joost Ameye , if interested.

Boat Covers
After an exhaustive review of our options, we have decided to put into place the following policy:
We encourage members to obtain covers that can drain water. At a minimum, covers must be arranged so that they do not collect water. Covers that are not maintained to this standard will be removed, and members will be notified. Repeat offenders may have their membership revoked by the club. Members may keep their existing covers, provided that the cover is properly tented to ensure water is not collected on top.
ANY NEW boat covers that are purchased should be arranged through the club.
