What’s happened?
LBC entered 4 teams in the Discovery Bay Dragonboat races. The Mens,
Ladies, Mixed and sailing (fun) teams all made it to the finals with
the Mens and Ladies both finishing first runners up. Well done to all.
Ten boats entered the Ladies Helm races on a day which saw good wind
conditions. The requirements were that a Lady had to be the helm, and
it was unusual to see some of the more regular helms crewing!
Congratulations to Clara Ng, Michele Felder, and Keiko who took the top
3 spots. A special mention goes to the youngest competitor, Lotte
Hessing who is just 10 years old.
Asian Sailing Championships
The 13th Asian Sailing Championship is being held between 7-13 October 2008 at Sanur-Bali, Indonesia.
In
order to select the best Hobie 16 team to represent HK at the 13th
Asian Sailing Championship, the HK Hobie Club is proposing to hold two
regattas (in June and July 2008) open to all Hobie 16 sailors in HK.
The team with the best results in these regattas will be proposed to
HKSF as the Hobie 16 team for the 13th Asian Sailing Championship.

know AS SOON AS POSSIBLE (email commodore@hobie.com.hk).
Please note that although there are a limited number of charter boats
available, it is unlikely they will be available to HK sailors so the
individuals entering will probably have to meet the cost of
transporting their own boat. Also, there will be no financial help for
competitors.
Sail Boxes
Bluefin Sailing are loading a container in Australia of Hobie parts
for delivery to Hong Kong. They have an special offer on sailboxes to
LBC members of $1900 (Normal cost $2500). Place your order to
secretary@lantauboatclub.com by Thursday 12th June at the very latest.
Also, if any members need large Hobie parts such as sails, the
container will arrive in about 6 weeks. Contact nigel@bluefin.com.hk
What’s Happening?
- Sunday 15th June – Sunshine Island expedition. A great day
out for all the family. Races to Sunshine Island, a barbeque and water
events while there. Transport is available for your food, children,
waterwings etc! Meet on the beach at 11am. - Saturday 28th June – Tram party. Contact social@lantauboatclub.com if interested.
- Sunday 29th June – Social sail. Meet on the beach at 11am to decide where to go for lunch.
