What's happened recently?

Tram Party: On Saturday 28th June, 20 members boarded a tram for a trip through Central, Wanchai, Causeway Bay, Happy Valley and back to Sheung Wan. Despite the rain, everyone had a good time and this will become a regular feature in the LBC Social calendar. Photos are posted in the Gallery .

Open Day: The weather held and plenty of DB residents turned up for the annual club open day. Sailing, canoeing, burgers, hot dogs and drinks were on offer and several of the participants signed up as new members. Many thanks to Anne Ludlow and Neil Jensen for organising the event and also to all those members who turned up to give rides to the visitors. Photos are here

DBYC Regatta: This year, our friends at the Discovery Bay Yacht club kindly invited us to join their regatta. Gabriel Kicks has already written an account of the day and pictures are posted in the gallery. Thanks are due to DBYC commodore, Paolo Alvera for the invitation, and Race Officer Jim Fernie, which heralds a new era of co-operation between the two clubs.

Training day: The club training on the 6th July was postponed at lunchtime, after squally conditions rendered the day unsuitable for training. It will be re-scheduled for September. Again, requests for volunteers will go out prior to the event. Please help out if you can.

Web Site

There have been a number of changes to the website. The members section has been re-vamped so that information is much easier to access. Your username is your firstname and first initial of your surname. So John Smith would be johns (all lower case).  Passwords will be sent out to individuals soon. Once logged in, you can change your login name and password, add extra information and even add a picture of yourself.  Please use something memorable as the site administrators will not have access to your changed details and we will only be able to reset ;your password. In future, a message board for crew requests and a forum will be added.

Boat park

The boat park has suffered from the weather.  Two large trenches have been created by the rain making boat movement difficult and more than one boat has been moved by the torrents.  Also at least one boat has been damaged by the recent typhoon.  Please make sure your tiedowns are secure and if you leave sails attached but furled, that they are secure and cannot be unfurled and ripped by strong wind.  Also make sure your boat cover is porous and drains collected rainwater.  Any cover that has standing water is laible to be removed.

Future Events

26th July - Socail Sail.  Meet on the beach at 10.30 to decide on where to sail for lunch.

10th August - Bauhinia series day 2.  Skippers brief at 11.00.

And Finally, a warm welcome to our new members.  Patrick Ng, Ting Chan, Colin Jenkinson, Ben Reitze, James Branch, Michael Shue and family, Vanessa Kwan, Ravi Ranjan and Cosmo Richards.
