Brian Phipps Training

Every year  prior to the Asian Open Regatta, Windsport International’s
Brian Phipps provides his expertise to the LBC members by running a
course.  This year, he will be at Discovery Bay for the weekend of
20th/21st of September to run an intermediate skills course (almost
full!) and will be available for individual coaching between the 22nd
and 24th of September.  We expect to see  LBC members trying to hone
their skills before the Air Canada Asian Open Regatta

ABC Regatta Results

Well done to our 14 cats that participated in the ABC Regatta last weekend. A write-up can be found here

Horwath Hobie Asian Classic 2008 – October 4th to 6th

The Notice of Race and Entry Form for the Horwath Hobie Asian Classic 2008 are now live on www.hobie.com.hk.
Open to all beach cats 16-20 feet in length, this regatta is one of
the ‘must do’ events for all beach cat sailors in Hong Kong.  The HK
Hobie Club will once again be putting on 3 days of excellent racing,
with 4 socials and lots of prizes up for grabs.  The Horwath Hobie
Asian Classic is part of the Fragrant Harbour Hobie 16, Dart 18 and
Formula 18 Championships, so participation in the HAC will help your
position in these 2008 Championships.

LBC members can bring their boats over to the Hobie Club either the
weekend before the HAC (Sept 27/28) or on the October 1st holiday just
before the regatta weekend.  And for the return trip, there’s a
convenient holiday on Tuesday October 7th or boats can be left at the
Hobie Club until the following weekend.

For entries received and paid by September 19, the entry fee is HK$900
(less than last year!)  The entry fee goes up to HK$1100 after
September 19, so don’t delay, get your entry in today!  Any questions,
please email Brenda Davies (commodore@hobie.com.hk ) or Chris Howarth (hobie@hobie.com.hk )

We look forward to welcoming lots of LBC teams at the Horwath Hobie Asian Classic 2008.

Cheers,
Brenda Davies

Asian Open Regatta

The 2008 Air Canada Asian Open Regatta to be held at Discovery Bay on
the weekend of the 25-26 of October is in the final planning
stages.  As well as Air Canada, the other sponsors have been confirmed
as Sunbrella, Fragrant Harbour and Hemingway’s by the Bay.  The
pre-race party and registration event is going to be held at Pier 7 Cafe above the Star Ferry at the ferry piers in Central on Thursday the 23rd October.  The closing dinner and
prize-giving will be at Hemingway’s By The Bay on ‘D Deck”, Discovery Bay.

The Asian Open regatta  is part of the Fragrant Harbour Hobie 16, Dart
18 and Formula 18 Championships, so participation in the Regatta will
help your position in the 2008 Championships. With the promise of good
racing under the direction of Race Officer Bo Fussing and a great
selection of regatta kit, this year’s event promises to be one of the
best.  And this year the regatta entry fee has been reduced to HK$600.
Sign up for the Regatta on the club website at www.lantauboatclub.com starting next week.
