The Plan for Now
Because of the extensive damage to our boats and beach, we have been working frantically to get everything back in order. We have at least 21 boats with documented damage at this point. Some cannot be repaired and will either have to get replacement parts (hulls, mast) or sell the boat for its parts.
Boats must be moved back to the beach tomorrow (Wednesday), as instructed by DB Management. Please take responsibility for getting your boat back on the beach. We will meet at 12 noon tomorrow (Wednesday) to move boats as a team.
Insurance
We are covered, individually, for insurance. For those people wishing to make a claim, we need to know some information. The basic information required is:
1. Incident Report as provided by you
2. Colour Photos (We have posted several here )
3. Repair Quotations
4. ID Card Copy of the boat owner
If the damage is serious, the insurer will appoint an expert to conduct a site investigation immediately. If not, they will collect further information surrounding the incident instead. Without the preliminary information, they are unable to carry out the enquiry.
Note: Our policy carries a HK$2000 excess
Repair
We are trying to get a fibreglass repair expert to our beach. So far, it looks like he would prefer to quote boats on individual repair jobs. We are looking into other options as well. Hopefully we can arrange for him to come to Discovery Bay Beach this coming weekend.
Hobie Asian Classic
We are down to 5 boats from LBC (after the typhoon damage) participating in one of the major regattas of the year! I realise that many people are unable to participate, but anyone who can, should be! The regatta is this weekend and there is still time to get in there. If interested, please contact me right away: commodore@lantauboatclub.com or contact the Hobie Club directly: commodore@hobie.com.hk
Air Canada Asian Open Regatta
This is the big event for LBC each year. Make sure you get signed up now! Race details are now posted on our web site.
Bids for Club Boats
The bidding for the Dart 18 and Laser has been competitive. I have been notified that some people wish to put in their bids before close of bidding this evening. Bidding will close at 10pm tonight! If your email bid is received after 10pm, it will not be eligible. As always, we will try and keep the homepage up to date (in the upper right corner off the page).
