Annual General Meeting
You should be aware that our Annual General Meeting will be held at 7.30pm on Monday 19 January in the Multi Purpose hall in the HKRI offices, Discovery Bay which are behind Fusion. Afterwards, the club will stand a round of drinks in Hemingway’s. Please complete the proxy form posted in the LBC website www.lantauboatclub.com if you want to vote, but can’t attend. We plan to keep the meeting rather brief, as we already have the agenda together.
Club Constitution
One of the motions being tabled at the AGM is for the voting in of the updated club constitution. LBC is required by the HK Government to re-register as a society and for this process, we must have a set of bye-laws which include a constitution acceptable to the Societies register. The final draft (subject to legal review) of these bye laws is available to view on the club website in the documents section (members info) . You will have to login with your member login to see it. You will be able to debate the constitution at the AGM, but please note that in its current form, the draft consists of the basics as required by the Co-operative Societies Ordinance and very little can be changed within the scope of the ordinance. The ordinance can be viewed at www.hklii.org/hk/legis/en/ord/33
Sailing Hut- action required
You may or may not have noticed that we replaced the flooring in the sail hut. Thank you to those members that came to the beach to help move all the items. Our Beachmaster, Neels, has now reassembled the racks and put back all the sails. If you have not assisted, please do not protest the placements of your sails.
NOTE: It seems there is quite a lot of 'junk' in the sail hut that we will not be putting back in place. If you have ANYTHING at all that belongs to you in the sail hut, please take the responsibility for placing it back in the sail hut, or it will be discarded in the next 10 days.
Junk to watch Chinese New Year Fireworks in the Harbour
Once again we have booked a junk boat to watch the fireworks on Chinese New Year. This is always very popular and is sure to sell out as it did last year. Bring your family, friends and warm clothes!
