Man Kok Beach Cleanup & BBQ

Don't forget! Beach Cleanup sail/paddle and BBQ this Sunday, 22 May. Meet at LBC at 9am and be prepared to take some people with you! If you want to bring along some extra food, that would be helpful too!

We will provide the BBQ and some food and drink (beer and soft drinks)

Awah can take a few people over, but we will also have another larger speed boat leaving from the Marina Club. If you have people that want to take the speed boat(s) please contact Tom Nunan (Commodore , LBC)

Cheung Chau Challenge

Our annual Cheung Chau Challenge is the biggest race of the Spring on 25-26 April! It is our chance to get together with our friends at the Hobie Club on neutral ground and have some fun yet competitive races together over the course of the weekend.

We sail over to Cheung Chau on Saturday morning, race that afternoon, go party on Cheung Chau that evening and stay on the island. On Sunday we race again in the morning, have prize giving in the afternoon, then sail home. The weekend is always a huge amount of fun.

Accommodation is available at the Warwick Hotel which overlooks the beach and race area.  The Warwick is offering a special rate of HK$890 nett per room per night (10% service charge inclusive), check-in on 25 Apr 09 (Sat) & check-out on 26 Apr 09 (Sun).  The room will (subject to hotel availability) be upgraded to Ocean View Room and room rates include breakfast for 2.  Please book your room directly with the Warwick (contact: Jamie Chan, phone 3176 6312, email sales@fareasthotels.com.hk , website www.warwickhotel.com.hk ).

Special Rules Apply This Year: In the interest of having closer races, we are allowing only Hobie 16s and Dart 18s to enter. Even if you do not own one of these boats, we may be able to get you on one (helming or crewing). You may book your place by contacting racing@lantauboatclub.com

We will even hold a special rules evening to ensure all participants understand the basic rules of sailing. Unfortunately, some of our recent Club races have once again proven the need for our sailors to better understand the rules.

Boat Parts

Please do not leave your boat parts in the hut. Neither the main hut nor the sailing hut are suitable storage places for your personal gear. The sailing hut is for sails. It is NOT for rudders, wires, halyards, sheets, shackles, etc. If left, these items will be cleared out and donated to anyone who needs them.
