Sail Racing

This weekend- Spring Series 1

We will kick off Club sail racing in May with the Spring Series. The wind has been excellent lately and the weather has been beautiful. A lovely Force 3-4 wind is forecasted for Sunday, so come out and join the fun!

Race briefing at 10am sharp, so be there early to get rigged and ready. We may need crew again, so if you are interested get down there early and find someone who needs you!

Cheung Chau Results

The Cheung Challenge took place on 25-26 April. This time, just getting there was half the excitement with lightning/ thunderstorms and heavy rains. The traditional competition between LBC and the Hobie Club was compeetitive as ever. LBC edged the Hobie Club in the F18 division, but the Hobie Club proved too strong in the larger Hobie/Dart fleet and took home the overall trophy for this year. Read more here .

Raid – Sai Kung

The annual RAID Sai Kung took place over the 3-day weekend of 1-3 May. In the Hobie fleet, LBC’s Jimmy Shum and Ho Wing Keung took top honours over the pre-race favourites Tong Shing and Kit Tong with Clara Ng from LBC nabbing 3rd place. Well done guys! The F18 fleet was topped by Mike Scantlebury and Dave Harris (LBC did not have any entries that competed).

Sail Training- 23 May

Please note we will have our first Novice Sail Training of the year on 23 May. These classes are always fully subscribed almost from the moment they are announced. So if you, or anyone you know is interested in learning the nasics of sailing on a catamaran, this is the opportunity. You can still sign up for this class.

The class runs most of the day, from 10am-4pm, and lunch is provided. You will get to experience the thrill of sailing on a catamaran and get out on the water. A typical agenda is here . Members HK$400, non-members HK$600.

If interested please contact training@lantauboatclub.com

Kayaks

As a final reminder, only kayaks that registered with the club by club members are permitted to park on the beach in the racks provided. Those unregistered or left on the ground and chained to trees will not be permitted to remain.

Boat Repair

Sunny Marine will be coming to the LBC beach on 27 May (Weds). If you are in need of repair (specifically hull and fibreglass work), this may be a good time to leverage their expert services. Because of the number of people who have already requested this type of work, we encourage you to contact Sunny Marine directly if interested at 28736410 or sunnymarine@netvigator.com. Ask for Katherine.
