The idea is that the assistants will help with the workload and understudy the posts with a view to taking over. Chinese
members need to be actively encouraged to take Committee posts as despite some 40% of the club members being Chinese, there was no representation in the Committee. The Race Officer will have to stand down in 2010 due to work commitments and the post of Social Secretary still remains vacant.

Item 6: Lantau Island Rowing Club

The Commodore and Secretary met three rowers who wished to form a rowing club to be named the Lantau Island Rowing Club (LIRC) and who wished to be based at the LBC with affiliation along the lines of the LIOCC. The plans for the LIRC fit in with the stated aims of LBC and the club supports the formation of the LIRC.
