Cheung Chau Challenge
Last weekend’s Cheung Chau challenge was beset with the problem of very little wind. There was no racing on either day with the boats being towed to Cheung Chau and back again on Sunday as far as Hei Ling Chau. Ironically, there was wind all weekend at DB! The weekend wasn’t a total loss with members of both the LBC and the Hong Kong Hobie Club enjoying a great seafood dinner on the Saturday.
Fragrant Harbour Trophy 2009
The FH trophies for 2009 were awarded during the Cheung Chau Weekend. Results are calculated based on placings in the top regattas during the course of the year (ABC Opening Regatta, Hobie Asian Classic, LBC Asian Open Regatta and the Round Island Race). Prizes were awarded to the top finisher in each of the 3 catamaran categories:
|
Dart 18 Class |
Tom Nunan & Michele Felder |
| Hobie 16 Class | Tong Shing |
| F18 Class | Mike Scantlebury |
Congratulations to the winners, and all who participated in racing for 2009. The same competition will take place for 2010, so practice now!
Memberships
Many thanks are due to all of the boat owning members who renewed by the deadline of Sunday 15th. Your boats have been re-insured from April 1st.
The next deadline is March 31st for all the other LBC members to renew. Please remember your membership expires at midnight of the 31st and after that a re-joining fee must be paid. So please don’t leave it to the last minute and run the risk of having to pay extra. Go to www.lantauboatclub.com as soon as possible to renew.
And LIOCC members, please don’t forget that you also need to go online at www.lantauboatclub.com and complete the LBC form as well.
Tree Cutting
On Saturday 20 March, we were forced to remove a couple of trees that had recently become unstable next to our main hut. The work was carried out by an expert of the HKRI tree surgeons.
