Typhoon Megi – Update
It’s getting closer – and it’s a big one. Megi is predicted to pass about 50NM to the East of Hong Kong on Saturday. It’s a super Typhoon and winds gusting to 130knots are predicted, so a signal above 8 is a very strong possibility.

Now is a good time to secure your boat. Ensure the cover is secure, that there are no loose articles to blow away, and that the halyards are not going to bang against the mast and annoy the neighbours. Also please consider lowering your mast, particularly if you own a Hobie 16. If you think it necessary to move your boat, please note that we are only allowed to move boats to the strips of grass by the sides of the roads leading up to Seahorse lane behind the toilet block and that the space is very limited. Also, your mast must be lowered if you move it to this location.
Also, there are spring (high) tides predicted this weekend and a tide surge is a possibility. So please make yourself available if a call goes out for help on the beach to move boats. And please be reminded that if you decide to take advantage of the increasing winds for an exciting sail, you are not insured if a T3 signal is raised!
