TYPHOON WARNING—WORKING TEAM NEEDED TO MOVE BOATS
Typhoon Nesat may bring up to 3m tides and Force 7 easterly winds starting Wednesday evening. The LBC Committee is arranging to move at least the front row of boats and perhaps others to the verges of the path between Seahorse Lane and the beach. We may need to move boats on Wednesday evening or Thursday afternoon. All boat owners available on Wednesday evening, please prepare to come down to the beach around 19:00 to help drop masts and move boats.
All boat owners are reminded to secure their boats against the tide and wind and remove loose objects from under and around the boats.
2011 INTERNATIONAL TRAINING PROGRAMME
LBC has again arranged for renowed UK coach Brian Phipps to offer training from November 4 to 14. Two one-day group courses have been arranged, along with several days available for private coaching. A one-day "Rusty Helms and Regatta Newcomer" course will be held on Saturday, Nov. 5, and an Intermediate Racing and Spinnaker Boat Course on Sunday, Nov. 6. For detailed information and an enrollment form, see this page.
LANTAU CLASSIC—SATURDAY, OCTOBER 1
The LIOCC will be holding its annual Lantau Classic event this Saturday. Over 100 paddlers from all over HK will be participating. Come enjoy the spectacle.
HOLIDAY SERIES #5
If post-typhoon wind and sea conditions permit, we will hold our regularly scheduled Holiday Series #5 club racing this coming Saturday, October 1. Skipper's briefing at 10:30 am. Because of the Lantau Classic canoe racing event, there will probably be no post-race BBQ this time around.
BEACH WATER SUPPLY IMPROVEMENTS
Kudos to Martin Kidgell, Ross Taylor, and James Branch for repairing and improving the tap controlling the beach and clubhouse water supply. The tap is now installed in a more convenient position and is connected to an automatic shut-off timer. Self-explanatory instructions are provided on the tap and timer.
