DBYC Regatta Please take note, the posting of the T3 signal combined with the predicted winds for tomorrow means we will cancel our racing division for the DB Regatta. (Most likely the whole race will be cancelled tomorrow as well).
After discussion with the organisers of the DBYC Regatta,we have taken the decision that it is too risky to race.
This means no racing on Saturday 27 June. We will be looking for another suitable date in the near future.

A Word from the Commodore
|
The Club racing to date this year has been excellent. Race Officer Gabriel Kicks has been focusing on the basics- something most of our racers sorely need. This often includes shortening the course and getting in more races that centre on starts, boat handling skills and familiarity with the rules of sailing (which you can find here ). Even our most experienced sailors have benefitted from this approach as we are finding out we might not know the rules as well as we thought.
Typhoon season is coming and by all predictions, it will be a wet and wild one. We had enough trouble from Hagupit last year, we certainly need to prepare ourselves better this year. All Hobies, without exception, should take down their masts in advance of the storm, and it is not a bad idea for Dart sailors to do the same. Never leave any loose items around the boat. This may mean tool boxes, kayaks, sails or just spare parts.
The wind alone is enough to wear on your boat. Be sure and attach your halyards to your boat cover (to tent it) or at least to the forestay whenever the boat is not in use. Keeping them close to the mast allows them to bang into the mast causing unnecessary wear and disturbing the neighbours!
