Lantau Boat Club actively seeks to improve club members
skills in sailing, to increase their confidence and ultimately
their enjoyment of sailing.

do this several members have been trained by UK Multihull
Coach, Brian Phipps from Windsport
International, to competently teach basic sailing skills.
We are currently developing programmes for all our members,
beginners, dinghy/multihull converts, introductions for
lady helms etc.
Secondly, every year in the two weeks before
our regatta in the Autumn, Brian joins us to give expert
tuition for Intermediates and Advanced Race Coaching programmes.
These courses assume reasonable levels of skill have been

Club Training
Time to get down to the beach and take advantage of the
newly acquired skills that our Club Instructors are just
itching to test out on to you!
LBC now has 18 trained instructors and ambitious plans to
get Club member skills upgraded, as well as to create a
pipeline of new sailing talent into the club. 3 main groups
of students have been identified for which sail training
programmes will be put together:
- Boat owners, sailors and crew who seek skill refresher
training
- Beginners
- Youths/children
Boat Owners, Sailors & Crew
We are particularly keen to encourage existing boat owners
to get more involved in the club, and therefore an early
initiative will be to organize a one-day refresher course
open to all boat owners, sailors and crew.
The course typically comprises dry land skills, lunch and
a sail in the afternoon. A nominal charge will be levied
to cover lunch and administration. |
