Celebrating Our 30th!

We have continued our busy year at LBC with our paddlers just having completed their annual Lantau Classic. I’m pleased to report they were the dominant force during the day, with the majority of the medal finishes among the six teams competing. Having personally witnessed most of the day’s activities, I would like to congratulate our paddlers on a superb event.

We have the 30th anniversary LBC sailing regatta as our next major event on November 2 and 3. For us sailors, this is the event of the year, and I would ask that anyone available to sail please submit your entry at your earliest opportunity. It promises to be two good days of racing, and the evenings will be a chance to enjoy ourselves with good food and drink. For those who can’t sail, we still need volunteers to help with a range of jobs. We promise to wine and dine you for your efforts!

Our new range of 30th anniversary gear is now available. Please check the club website for full details about ordering this limited edition clothing. Thanks to Andy Keith and Cindy Chung for handling the designing, ordering, and delivery.

Our Social Secretary Marc Holm has completed final preparations for our 30th bash at the Headland Hotel at Cathay City on November 16. I look forward to seeing as many members as can make it for what should be a great night. We only turn 30 once so please try to make it if you can.

Last, a personal thank you to all the people who turned out to help move boats during our last typhoon. As it turned out, the wind was strong enough and from the correct direction to cancel out the tidal surge, so we were lucky that our efforts were not needed. Things could easily have been different, however. To all those who came to help, my personal thanks.

Stay safe on the water, and I look forward to seeing you all on the 16th.

Cheers,

James Branch
