Commodore’s Corner

We have been relatively lucky during this year’s Typhoon Season but people’s concerns were heightened with the arrival of Tropical Cyclone Nida which hit with some force during the early hours on the 2nd Aug. A call went out to LBC members to help move on the 31st July, boats to higher ground above the expected tidal surge line and for individual boat owners to ensure their boat covers and equipment were appropriately secured as the wind  was expected to be strong. A fantastic turnout of members from all three sections of LBC allowed all the boats to be moved within an hour, showing that many hands make light work. Your help was greatly appreciated, thank you once again!
A new LBC logo has been designed to better reflect the current state of the club which has grown tremendously over the last 30+ years! A big thank you goes to LBC Sailing Chair, Tom Nunan who has been the driving force with the sourcing and design specifications for the new logo! Thanks again Tom!

Members from LBC Sailing, Rowing and Paddling sections joined in the latest “Mui Wo Madness Social Lunch Push” on the 21st Aug. Unfortunately, there was no wind for the sailors so they took the option of a leisurely ride in the LBC Support Boat to Mui Wo. Once again, Julie and her team at China Beach Restaurant put on a fantastic array of food and plenty of cold beers! Thanks Julie!!

A date for the diary is the LBC AGM and Combined Sections Christmas Party which will be held at Zaks Restaurant (Upstairs) in Discovery Bay on Friday 18th Nov 2016. Please keep an eye on the LBC Website for further details.

Don’t forget, we at LBC are always open to new members joining our growing club. If you are interested in finding out more information, please contact our Administration Officer, Cindy Chung

Be safe on the water!
