Founded in the 1980s and run entirely on a voluntary, nonprofit basis, the club has space for many types of sailing, paddling, and rowing boats, with secure storage for equipment, a small clubhouse, and showers for a rinse after your on-water activities.
Originally started as a sailing club we have expanded over the years to include thriving paddling and coastal rowing sections. Kayaks and outrigger canoes are also popular among members.
At its core LBC is a club about having fun and each section embraces that with plenty of social events both on and off the water. Paddling, rowing or sailing trips with a BBQ are common in the summer, with dinners and drinks in the colder months. Families are always welcome.
Friendly competition is what the club is about! All three sections regularly hold racing in the waters around Discovery Bay and it’s a great way to hone your skills.
For more serious racing the club regularly attends events around Hong Kong with full safety boat support.
We are proud to boast the most convenient location, most events, strongest ties with the community and the lowest membership fees of any club of its type in this part of the world.
We can do this because the club is run completely by enthusiastic volunteers keen to help promote sailing, paddling, and rowing in and around Hong Kong.
